VANCOUVER ISLAND PRINCESS (BC Ferries)

Passenger/Rail/Car ferry built by A. Stephen & Son, Glasgow, for Canadian Pacific that entered service in 1955 as Princess Of Vancouver between Vancouver and Nanaimo.

In 1982 she came under the ownership of the Government Of Canada and in 1985 was registered for BC Ferries as Vancouver Island Princess, operating between Comex and Powell River.

In 1988 sold to British Columbia Stena Line, the company was not a success and by 1990 she was on various charters venturing as far as the Mediterranean.

Sold to the Peoples Republic Of China in 1993 and renamed Nan Hai Ming Zhu.

In 2001 sold to Haveton Shipping of Hong Kong and renamed Pearl Of South China Sea.
